If you’ve already read my post on my 2018 New Year’s Resolutions then you’d know that I love the new year. Having a fresh start at the beginning of the year to organize what you want to accomplish is one of my favorite things. There is just something so happy about a new year. Down below I have compiled 5 tips on how I plan on reaching my goals that I’ve set for myself for this year! These have helped me in the past, and I hope that they help you too!

Invest in a Planner
One of the best ways to achieve your goals this year, whatever they may be, is to get organized! Late last year, I slowly started to organize all parts of my life. Our lives are so busy and chaotic between work, school, events, etc. Life can just get pretty crazy. One way that really has been helping me stay organized is my planner. Right now I have been using the Create 365 The Big Happy Planner, and it has been wonderful! It is so nice having a spot to not only organize my events but mind dump for all my thoughts and ideas! No matter what your resolutions or goals are, a planner is a must!
Make Reasonable Goals
I know that I have some big goals for this year, but big changes happen in small steps. There is a lot I want to accomplish this year, but it has been proven that if you create small goals for yourself that you are more likely to achieve them. Small changes here and there add up, whether you want to simply eat better or read more, (which I happen to want to do more of). I want to eat more veggies and drink more water during the day, so I started to eat at least one vegetable with each meal and carry water around with me everywhere. It doesn’t have to be hard! Remember, big dreams are accomplished through small goals.
Hold Yourself Accountable
I was talking to Alden’s Mom about this the other day, one of the biggest reasons people don’t have success in their resolutions is that they lack self-accountability. What I mean by this is that we as people are full of shit. In the past, I have told myself that “I am going to wake up at 6 am everyday and workout”. This is doable, but for me, it was something that I would say to myself but overall knew it was NOT going to happen. It felt good planning something, but when my alarm would go off at 6 every morning I’d end up hitting snooze. This reverts back to making reasonable goals for yourself. You can lie to yourself and make excuses all day long about how you’re going to start doing whatever it is, but the fact is it’s up to you to accomplish whatever it is you set out to do. Nobody knows you better than yourself, so when it comes to taking control over your life, it’s time to hold yourself accountable.
Nobody wants to do something that they don’t find enjoyment in, especially if they don’t have to. The same goes for your goals. If what you’re working at isn’t fun for you, you’ll have nothing to keep you going. It is okay to reward yourself when you reach a goal (within reason). One of my favorite ways to “reward” myself is by doing a face mask. It’s important to practice self-care, and I love using this charcoal & black sugar mud mask. Whether it’s buying yourself something nice (like more planner stickers), splurging on a fancy coffee, or simply pampering yourself a little bit. Make reaching your goals fun, they’ll be rewarding in the long run!
Most important of all, stay positive. I said it earlier, things take time. You may not see the results you want right away. But being negative about the situation does not help anybody. I do the same thing, and sometimes I have to step back. Something that helps me keep a positive attitude when things get a little too hard to handle is by relaxing. One way I do that is by diffusing my essential oils around the house. Oils really help to recharge my mental batteries and keep me from losing it. Remember that hiccups will happen. But recovering from them and having a positive mindset is crucial for you to get anywhere. You will get through it!
