Camden is now 5 months old!
These days it seems like he’s growing out of his clothes faster than I can wash them and he is getting cuter and chubbier by the day. I can’t believe that next month he will be half a year old! Back when I was pregnant, people would tell me how fast the time goes once your baby is born, and I have to admit I didn’t really believe it. Oh, how very wrong I was. Some days I don’t want to blink, I just don’t want to miss a thing.
Here are some baby updates:
At the very end of October, Camden said Mama for the first time! Can ya believe it?! My little man now says my name (usually when he’s getting cranky and desperately needs some cuddles) but, still! He is getting great at making new noises and moving his mouth to mirror my own. I love hearing his little baby babble.
Just recently we started feeding him solid foods. First, just a little bit of rice cereal mixed with breast milk while I’m away at work. He loves eating and is already trying to feed himself, (but at this point, all he really does is make a mess all over the place). He is fascinated with watching us eat and is always trying to grab at my plate if it is within reach. I tried giving him a banana the other day which did not go over too well. He made the sourest face! Since I didn’t puree it and just mashed it up with a fork, I think the texture is what threw him off. I pureed a little bit of it for him today and mixed it with his baby cereal and he seemed to like it much better, but still had some faces to make about it at first.
Since we started Camden on baby cereal he has started to sleep a lot better throughout the night, hallelujah! We finally got him to sleep a whole night in his crib! Victory! I am trying to wean him off co-sleeping and getting him to sleep exclusively in his crib and eventually in his own room. It has been a struggle, but at this point, it is coming down more on me and just needing to stay consistent with our bedtime routine. I have been feeling really guilty and stressed out about not strictly making him sleep in his crib, but the early days of Cam being home were a nightmare at bedtime. Nobody got any sleep when he wasn’t sleeping next to me, but as he is getting older it is time for him to be sleeping independently.
Camden is starting to sit up well on his own for a few seconds at a time and is starting to learn his name. He gives us the biggest grin when we say his name and tell him how sweet he is. Alden and I are so excited to celebrate the holiday season with our little man, and the first snowfall we had is starting to get us into Christmas mode. Hopefully, Camden will love watching Christmas movies and staring at the tree as much as his parents do.
